The Tunnel Stage
Brief
Reigate Architects have long believed Reigate Tunnel to be synonymous with the town, but a somewhat underused resource. We were, therefore, delighted to be asked to come up with a proposal for a temporary music stage in the town centre…for us there was only ever one possible location.
Response
Drawing from the rich heritage of the tunnel, we undertook the design and oversaw the construction of a temporary elevated stage, set against the iconic tunnel arches. In addition to optimising stage views, adhering to safety and regulatory requirements, and maintaining pedestrian access through the tunnel, we also played a pivotal role in securing a TEN (Temporary Events Notice) for the stage area.
