Eversfield Road

Eversfield Road

Brief

This Georgian house is unusual in that the rear rooms are at two different levels. Our client had previously obtained planning permission for a poorly-designed single-storey rear extension. We proposed a complete redesign.

Response

Our design is a contemporary addition with tall glazing providing maximum visual connection to the garden. The triangular plan form was chosen to provide a large footprint whilst minimising the effect on the neighbouring properties. A continuous strip of roof-light abuts the rear wall of the existing house allowing natural daylight and ventilation into the interior of the plan. A new bookcase/staircase/music centre has made a feature of the change in level required between the existing house and the extension at garden level. A new triangular terrace area anchors the extension into the garden.

Testimonial

I have now employed Reigate Architects on two projects and on both occasions Simon provided a a wide
variety of potential designs for discussion- some of which were highly thought-provoking and innovative.
Simon is not only creative but also practical and pragmatic- therefore his final designs have delivered
attractive and clever designs within practical and affordable constraints.
We continue to work with Reigate Architects and are happy to recommend them.
