Worcester Road

Brief

Our client sought to create a new garden room at the end of their Victorian terrace garden in Reigate – a peaceful retreat primarily for arts and crafts. The challenge was to design a space that not only provided functionality and flexibility but also felt naturally connected to the garden and the character of the existing home.

Response

Our design introduces a simple, geometric garden room clad in natural timber – a contemporary yet sympathetic addition to this Reigate garden. By maximising space within a compact plot, we created a versatile and secluded retreat that addresses the neighbouring garden overlook, enhancing privacy and tranquillity for both households.

The space is inherently flexible – serving as a creative studio or home office by day, and transforming into a cosy teenager’s retreat or peaceful garden sanctuary by evening. Sustainable features, including a green sedum roof, integrated water butt, and carefully positioned windows, draw in natural light, strengthen the connection with the garden, and support eco-friendly living.
