This Victorian house on a corner plot required a new larger kitchen/dining room with good connection to the rear garden
We designed a split level ‘wrap around’ rear/side extension. The kitchen area sits at the same level as the ground floor of the existing house and a glazed canopy covers the stepped approach to the new ‘back’ door. The dining area is at a lower level to provide easy access to the rear garden via bi-fold doors. The sash windows, stone cills and slate grey zinc roof compliment the external finishes of the original house.
“We knew that we wanted to extend the back of the house to make a family kitchen – but that’s all we knew. We had never taken on a building project before, and so were looking for some professional help. Roy listened to our thoughts, made some excellent suggestions and helped to crystallise our design. Although our builder was great, Roy’s expertise and experience ensured that everything was done ‘right’. The end result is more than we had imagined at the start, and the process was as stress free as possible. We would unreservedly recommend Reigate Architects to anyone in a similar situation”.
