Brief
Our client owned this charming intact Victorian building. The brief required a larger kitchen/dining room with good connection to both the front and rear gardens. A larger family bathroom was to be provided at first floor level together with a basement conversion and relocated off-street parking.
Response
It was agreed that a ‘conservation style’ extension would be appropriate and the details and materials used match those of the host building. In order to re-use existing foundations the external walls of the new extension follow those of the conservatory that it replaced. The floor level in the existing basement was lowered and the floor and walls were insulated to create a new guest bedroom with en-suite facilities
